The Apollo Group

The Apollo Group is a rare example of academic collaboration that began in the late 1990’s which allowed the pooling of intellect from seven thought leading gastroenterologists and surgeons from the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of Texas Medical Branch, and the Digestive Disease Center at the Medical University of South Carolina.  In 2006 we co-founded Apollo Endosurgery Inc. with the Apollo Group through a license to key intellectual property focused on devices and procedures for therapeutic flexible endoscopy.

	Christopher J. Gostout, M.D. Professor of Medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and the Director of the Developmental Endoscopy and Research Unit in the Mayo Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Rochester, Minnesota.
	Robert Hawes, M.D. Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston is an adjunct Professor of Bioengineering at Clemson University.
	Sergey Kantsevoy, M.D., PhD. Director of Therapeutic Endoscopy, The Institute for Digestive Health and Liver Disease at Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Kantsevoy received his M.D. (1983) and Ph.D. (1990) from Gorky State Medical Institute in Russia. He is a Diplomate of American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
